The Challenge
The warehouse manages the ordering, storage and distribution of fast-moving consumable products to healthcare facilities across Wales.
While the site’s IT servers were already protected by UPS infrastructure, the existing battery backup was only designed to provide enough power for the servers to shut down safely during an outage.
The wider warehouse operation required a longer-term backup power solution capable of supporting the building and maintaining critical distribution activities when mains electricity was unavailable.
The Solution
Following an assessment of the building’s electrical load, a 110kVA standby generator was installed to support the existing UPS and server room infrastructure.
The HVO-fuelled solution included:
🔹 Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS)
🔹 Main distribution board connection
🔹 Electrical cabling and trunking
🔹 IP-rated connection cabinet
Installation was completed during a planned weekend power disconnection to minimise disruption.
