Client background
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was designed to redefine the modern matchday experience.
Accommodating more than 62,000 spectators and attracting over three million visitors every year, the stadium combines football, NFL games, concerts and other major live events within a single intelligent venue.
From the outset, technology was embedded into every aspect of the stadium WiFi to improve fan engagement, simplify operations and provide a flexible platform capable of supporting future innovations.
The challenge
Modern stadiums demand far more than reliable public Wi-Fi.
Tottenham Hotspur wanted to create a digital-first environment where connectivity powered every stage of the visitor journey while enabling efficient day-to-day operations behind the scenes.
The new infrastructure needed to:
🔹 Deliver reliable stadium Wi-Fi for more than 62,000 spectators
🔹 Support mobile ticketing and digital wayfinding
🔹 Enable cashless food, drink and retail purchases
🔹 Reduce queue times throughout the venue
🔹 Provide real-time operational insight
🔹 Support broadcasters, staff and commercial partners
🔹 Connect building management and security systems
🔹 Adapt easily for football, NFL games, concerts and other live events
The ambition was to create one of the smartest connected sports venues in the world while delivering an exceptional fan experience.
We now have more data sources than any other stadium in the world. It’s an enabler for us to deliver an enhanced fan experience.

The solution
Technology was integrated into the stadium from the earliest design stages, with enterprise networking forming the foundation for every connected service.
The wireless infrastructure supports fans, stadium operations, retail, security, broadcasting and building management through a single intelligent platform.
The solution included:
🔹 High-density under-seat wireless access points
🔹 Mobile-first fan experience
🔹 Digital ticketing
🔹 Cashless payments throughout the stadium
🔹 Indoor wayfinding and location services
🔹 Real-time analytics
🔹 Role-based network security
🔹 Intelligent building management
🔹 Enterprise cloud infrastructure
The connected platform also enables personalised mobile experiences, real-time operational visibility and the flexibility to host multiple event types throughout the year.
HPE technology is actually the most important piece of technology in this building, because without it, nothing else can operate. We need the data, the analytics, and the intelligence.
