Client Background

A prominent player in the financial sector, was expanding its presence by occupying a new floor within an existing office building in a major European city. As a critical part of the expansion, the client required a fully integrated IT infrastructure aligned with their operational and security standards.

The Challenge

The primary objective was the design and installation of a resilient and future-ready structured cabling system to support a diverse array of services, including user workstations, AV systems, access control, wireless access points, and building management systems (BMS).

Key challenges included:

  • Complex Multi-Floor integration: The client needed seamless backbone connectivity across adjacent floors
  • Critical System Resilience: maintaining uninterrupted business operations was essential
  • High Compliance Expectations: Enterprise standards required thorough documentation, testing and warranty alignment
  • Operations without Disruption: Work had to be coordinated outside normal hours to avoid impacting legacy systems

The Solution

DTE delivered a full Design and Build solution encompassing structured cabling and ancillary IT infrastructure. All works complied with relevant industry standards and were implemented using approved products from leading manufacturers including Leviton, Corning, APC, Panduit and Excel, ensuring long-term warranty coverage, reliability, and future-proof performance.

Scope of work included:

  • Design and Coordination: Developed detailed documentation, including rack elevations, schematics and layouts, in collaboration with client network architects
  • Structured Cabling Installation: Deployed Cat 6A U/FTP cabling for workstations, AV, Wi-Fi 6E and auxiliary systems, plus OM4 fibre backbone with resilient multi-level routing
  • Power and Rack setup: Installed dual-feed intelligent PDUs, fully racked and stacked network equipment, all patched and clearly labelled
  • Labelling and Testing: Engraved and wrap-labelled outlets, panels and cables; completed comprehensive Fluke testing with client verification on 100% of runs
  • Wi-Fi and Sensor Deployment: Installed and asset-tagged access points and wireless sensors, with serial and MAC addresses recorded for smooth O&M handover
  • Out-of-Hours Execution: All work in live operational areas was scheduled outside business hours to avoid disruption and follow change control protocols

The project was delivered on time, on budget, and to an exceptional standard, enabling the client to achieve the following:
