Since 2010, DTE has partnered with Amazon to deliver innovative technology solutions that improve operational efficiency across its fulfilment and logistics network. Faced with increasing stowing errors and reduced productivity caused by the continual rotation of temporary workers during peak trading periods, Amazon required a solution that could increase speed, accuracy and consistency. DTE designed and deployed a bespoke Light Guided Solution that transformed the stowing process across 700 sites worldwide.
The challenge
Amazon’s last-mile delivery stations experience significant increases in temporary workers during peak trading periods such as Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Christmas.
While essential for meeting demand, the constant onboarding of new associates resulted in:

The solution
Working closely with Amazon, DTE designed and developed a bespoke Stow-by-Light (SBL) system using low-voltage LED technology and intelligent software integration.
Rather than relying on printed instructions or handheld devices, associates are visually guided to the correct stow location using illuminated LED indicators. This dramatically reduces decision-making time while virtually eliminating language barriers.
The bespoke solution was engineered to integrate seamlessly with Amazon’s existing racking infrastructure, reducing installation complexity and minimising operational disruption.
