Aethos is a modern hospitality group focused on creating experience-led, design-driven hotels across Europe.
Its London Shoreditch property is a 154-room hotel incorporating guest accommodation, a restaurant, spa and private members’ club. As part of an ambitious expansion strategy, Aethos wanted the property to become a blueprint for refurbishing and launching future hotels quickly.
The entire Shoreditch property was remodelled in approximately six weeks, requiring a technology infrastructure that could be deployed rapidly without compromising performance or guest experience.
The challenge
The hotel’s existing network was outdated and barely functional. It could not support the connected guest experience or efficient hotel operations Aethos wanted to deliver.
Aethos needed to completely rewire and modernise the 154-room property as part of a rapid refurbishment programme lasting fewer than 50 days.
The new hospitality Wi-Fi solution needed to:

For a premium hospitality brand, Wi-Fi could not be treated as an optional extra. It needed to operate quietly and reliably in the background while supporting every part of the guest journey.
The solution
Aethos removed the legacy infrastructure and deployed a completely new wireless-first network based on HPE Aruba Networking technology.
Every guest room was cabled and equipped with its own dedicated wireless access point, helping provide strong, consistent connectivity throughout the hotel. The network also enabled guests to roam seamlessly around the property using a single sign-on experience.

Cloud-based configuration allows future properties to be prepared remotely, with local teams installing the equipment on site. This reduces the need for specialist network engineers to travel to each hotel refurbishment and helps Aethos open new locations more quickly.
The central management platform also gives the IT team a single view of network performance across its growing European hotel portfolio.
